Gianna Tesone is a contemporary abstract painter and multimedia artist based in New York City. She is influenced by color theory, movement, texture, and the interplay and tension of juxtaposing elements of the natural world. From working in a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, spray paint, pastels, graphite and repurposing of material, she applies a research-informed and scientifically influenced approach to traditional art making methods. She holds a BFA, specializing in painting, creative theory and art history from Point Loma Nazarene University and mentorship of internationally acclaimed artist Ty Nathan Clark. She has exhibited in museums, galleries, and neo-gallery settings of interdisciplinary feilds in the United States and will be attending international artist residencies and participating in national and international exhibitions in 2024. She actively works in collaborative settings alongside other artists, musicians, designers and entrepreneurs across the country and is actively pursuing research and educational initiatives while building her own business in the curatorial and marketing landscape of New York City.

Gianna Tesone’s work is a translation of visceral and emotional impressions into bold and intuitively orchestrated compositions of color, movement and texture. Informed by scientific research and personal experience, Tesone analyzes the unfolding patterns of human behavior, power of perception as the convergence of design, color psychology, cognitive neuroscience, philosophy and physiology. Through use of captivating forms, grotesque but playful texture and emotionally charged color within negative space, the work calls attention to the integration and experience of elemental harmonization. This multi-hyphenate perspective elevates the work to serve as a method of story telling and breathes life into its own genre as a synthesis of abstraction and behavioral neuroscience. “Neuro-Expressionism” integrates an epidemiological approach into the creative process.
